To make an AI dance video, pick a dance template, upload one clear photo of a person, a baby or a pet, and let the AI generate the video, which takes a few minutes. Then download it, add the trending sound in TikTok or Reels, and post. This guide walks through each step and fixes the problems people hit most.

## What do you need to make an AI dance video?

One photo and a dance template. That is all:

- **A photo** of one person, baby, kid, dog or cat, ideally full body and sharp. For our two-person dance, Hotel Lobby, a photo of two people side by side.
- **A dance template**, such as [C-Walk](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/c-walk), [Copines](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/copines-dance) or [Music](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/music-dance). Each template is a real routine the AI copies onto your photo.
- **A phone or computer** with a browser. AI Dance works at danceaiapp.com with no install, and there is also an [app](https://danceaiapp.com/app).

You do not need a video of yourself, a green screen or any editing skills. You also do not need to know the dance: the AI does it for you.

## Step 1: Pick a photo that works

The photo decides most of the result, so spend a minute choosing it. The best photo shows one subject, the whole body, the face toward the camera, in good light.

- **Full body, head to feet.** Dances use the legs. A photo cut at the waist makes the AI invent the rest, and invented legs look wrong. For footwork dances like the C-Walk, both shoes must be visible.
- **One subject.** The AI animates the biggest person or animal it finds. If two people are in the photo, it picks one, usually the bigger one. Crop the photo so only your dancer is in it.
- **Face toward the camera.** A side profile or a face hidden by sunglasses, a hat or a hand is harder to keep looking like the person.
- **Arms slightly away from the body.** Arms pressed to the sides or crossed are harder to separate from the body when they start to move.
- **Sharp and bright.** Soft daylight from a window is ideal. Dark, grainy or blurry photos turn into blurrier videos.
- **Simple background.** Your photo's background stays in the video, so a tidy room looks better than a cluttered one. Busy patterns behind the dancer can wobble.

For babies, use a photo of the baby alone, standing or sitting; a baby in a parent's arms gives you a dancing parent. For pets, get down to their eye level and pick a shot where the legs show. Our [baby](https://danceaiapp.com/ai-baby-dance), [dog](https://danceaiapp.com/ai-dog-dance) and [cat](https://danceaiapp.com/ai-cat-dance) pages have more tips.

## Step 2: Choose a dance template

Pick the dance by who is in the photo and where you will post it.

- **For a trend:** check the [trends page](https://danceaiapp.com/trends) for what is hot this month. In October 2026 that is [Hotel Lobby](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/hotel-lobby), [She Did It Again](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/she-did-it-again-dance) and [Copines](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/copines-dance).
- **For a baby:** short, happy routines like [Music](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/music-dance), [Like Jennie](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/like-jennie-dance) or [Not Cute Anymore](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/not-cute-anymore-dance). For a baby who cannot stand, [Overdrive](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/overdrive-dance), which is all arms.
- **For a pet:** dances with clear poses, like [Chanel](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/chanel-dance) for dogs or [Zoo](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/zoo-dance) for cats.
- **For two people:** [Hotel Lobby](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/hotel-lobby) is our duo template.

Every template page shows a real example, the length of the video and what it costs, so you know what you will get before you start.

## Step 3: Upload your photo and check it

On the template page, tap the upload box and choose your photo. The photo is sent to our cloud storage so the AI can work with it; your photo is used only to make your video. We never show it to other users.

Before you generate, look at the preview once more and ask: is the whole body in it, is there only one subject, and is it sharp? If not, pick another photo now. It is much faster than making the video twice.

## Step 4: Generate and wait a few minutes

Tap Generate. The cost in credits is shown on the button. Short dances cost 1 credit per video, longer dances cost 3, and Hotel Lobby costs 8.

The video takes a few minutes. The AI reads the body in your photo and moves it through the dance frame by frame, which is real work for the computer. You can keep the page open to watch it finish, or leave and come back: every video also appears in My Videos when it is ready.

If the video fails, its credits come back to your account on their own, so you can try again with a different photo at no extra cost.

## Step 5: Download it and add the sound

Download the video. It is a 9:16 MP4 file, usually 10 to 20 seconds long, sized for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Videos have no watermark.

AI Dance does not put music in your video, because trending songs are copyrighted and the platforms have licensed sounds built in. Add the sound inside the app you post to:

1. Upload the video in TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
2. Tap the sound or music button and search for the trend's song, for example "Copines" or "Hotel Lobby".
3. Slide the sound so the first beat lines up with the first move, then post.

## How do I fix common AI dance video problems?

Most problems come from the photo, and a better photo fixes them.

**"No person detected" or the video failed.** The AI could not find a clear body to animate. This happens with very dark photos, faces only, people far away, or pets curled up. Use a brighter photo where the subject fills more of the frame and the body is visible. Your credits come back automatically.

**Two people in the photo, but the dance is for one.** The AI animates only the biggest person, and the other one may stay still or look odd. Crop the photo to one person, or use [Hotel Lobby](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/hotel-lobby), which is made for two.

**The wrong person dances.** Same cause: the AI picked the biggest body, often the adult holding a baby or a dog. Use a photo of the dancer alone.

**The face is blurry or does not look like the person.** The face was small, turned away, covered or soft in the photo. Use a sharp photo with the face toward the camera and nothing over it. Closer photos (knees up) keep the face larger, at the cost of the feet.

**The feet are cut off or melt into the floor.** The photo was cropped at the ankles or the shoes blend into the floor. Use a full-body photo with a little floor below the feet and shoes that contrast with it.

**The back of the outfit looks strange during a spin.** Your photo shows only the front, so the AI imagines the back. Plain, fitted clothes give it less to guess; long scarves and bags smear.

**Pets change shape.** The pet was lying down or curled up, so the AI had to unroll it. Use a photo of the pet sitting up or standing, with the legs visible.

## How do I post my AI dance video on TikTok, Reels and Shorts?

Post it like any other short video, with the trend's sound and a short caption.

- **Open with the photo.** Half a second of the still photo before the dance makes the reveal land. Many people post the photo and the video side by side.
- **Use the trend's sound.** Search the song name in the app's sound library. The template page tells you which sound goes with each dance.
- **Name the trend in the caption.** People search for trends by name, so "Hotel Lobby" or "Copines dance" in the caption helps your post get found.
- **Tag the people in it.** For duo videos, tag your friend. Their followers see it too.
- **Ask before you post someone else.** Only make videos of people who agreed, and think twice before posting children publicly.

## How do I do the AI dance trend with a baby or a pet?

Use a photo of your baby or pet alone, pick a dance made for them, and generate. The steps are the same; the photo matters even more.

For babies, pick a photo where they stand or sit on their own, with the whole body in view, and start with [Music](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/music-dance) or [Like Jennie](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/like-jennie-dance). For dogs, try [Chanel](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/chanel-dance); for cats, [Zoo](https://danceaiapp.com/templates/zoo-dance). Our [baby](https://danceaiapp.com/ai-baby-dance), [dog](https://danceaiapp.com/ai-dog-dance) and [cat](https://danceaiapp.com/ai-cat-dance) pages list every dance that suits them and the photo tips for each.

## Is it safe to upload my photo?

Your photo is used only to make your video. We never show it to other users. Photos are stored in our cloud storage only to make your video. You can delete your videos, and you can ask support@danceaiapp.com to delete your data. Your videos are not posted anywhere unless you share them yourself.
