What is the Levitating trend?

"Levitating" is a song by Dua Lipa from her 2020 album Future Nostalgia, released as a single on October 1, 2020. It ended 2021 as the top song of the year on the Billboard Hot 100 without ever reaching No. 1, and it had TikTok moments of its own from the start: in August 2020 Dua Lipa ran a TikTok contest for the song, and after the remix video in October 2020 TikTok launched a #Levitating challenge.

The song is pure disco, so our template leans into the most famous disco move there is: one arm pointing up to the sky, the other pointing down, hips to the side. Before that, the dancer gets up from the floor and claps once, and after it comes a playful bob from side to side and a sway with the hands on the hips.

It is one of the original baby dances on AI Dance. In the app it was listed as "Leavating"; it is the same dance, and we use the song's real spelling on the web.

The moves

The dancer starts on all fours, stands up and claps once, then hits the disco pose: one arm pointing up, the other down. Next comes a playful bob from side to side with the hands pointing at the chest, and the clip ends with hands on hips, swaying gently.

How to make the Levitating video

Everything runs in your browser. No editing app and nothing to film.

  1. Step 1: Add your photo

Upload one clear photo of a baby, facing the camera, as much of the body in the frame as you can.

  2. Step 2: Tap Make my video

The Levitating dance costs 1 credit. The AI copies the moves onto your photo while you wait, about a few minutes.

  3. Step 3: Download and post

You get a 8 second 9:16 MP4. Post it on TikTok, Reels or Shorts and add the sound inside the app.

Best photo for Levitating

The photo decides most of the result. These tips are for this dance.

Works well

  • Use a photo where your baby stands on their own, with the whole body in view.
  • Leave space above the head for the disco point, so the raised arm stays in the frame.
  • Avoid photos where an adult holds the baby. The AI animates the biggest person in the photo.
  • A sharp photo with the face toward the camera keeps the smile through the sway.
  • Sparkly or bright clothes suit the disco mood, but plain ones work just as well.

Gives weak results

  • Group photos, or a second person cut off at the edge
  • Faces turned away, covered or in deep shadow
  • Blurry or very dark photos
  • Heavy filters, stickers or text on the photo

Post it on TikTok, Reels or Shorts

  • Your video comes without music. Add Dua Lipa's "Levitating" in TikTok or Reels and start on the chorus.
  • Time the disco point to a big beat. It is the moment people screenshot.
  • A disco caption works: "Saturday night fever, nap at 8".

Add Levitating by Dua Lipa from the sound library of the app you post to, so your video uses the official track.
