What is the Lounge Step trend?
Lounge Step joined the AI Dance app in August 2026, and it is one of the longest dances we have. That length is what makes it different: instead of one hook repeated, it is a full little choreography that keeps changing, the kind dancers film in a studio in front of the mirror.
It starts with the hands on the hips and a bounce, then the arms sweep out and over the head, come back to the hips, and the right arm sweeps up. The dancer bounces with bent arms, sweeps them out to the sides, steps side to side while pumping the arms, touches the chest, sweeps around and points forward. The second half adds fist pumps and hands on the thighs before a final point.
The beat is a French and Lingala Afro track, warm and steady, so the moves feel joyful rather than rushed. A full-body photo with room for the arm sweeps gives the best result.
The moves
Hands on hips with a bounce, arms sweeping out and over the head, back to the hips, the right arm sweeping up. Bounces with bent arms, sweeps to the sides, side steps with pumping arms, a touch to the chest and a point forward, then fist pumps, hands on the thighs and a final point.

Best photo for Lounge Step
The photo decides most of the result. These tips are for this dance.
Works well
- Use a full-body photo with space above your head for the arm sweeps.
- Stand facing the camera with your arms a little away from your body.
- Sneakers and comfortable clothes match the studio feel of the dance.
- Pick a sharp photo in good, even light.
- One person per photo. The AI animates the biggest person in the frame.
Gives weak results
- Group photos, or a second person cut off at the edge
- Faces turned away, covered or in deep shadow
- Blurry or very dark photos
- Heavy filters, stickers or text on the photo
Post it on TikTok, Reels or Shorts
- Your video comes without music. A warm Afro or Afrobeats sound with a steady beat fits best.
- Let it play to the end. Long routines reward people who keep watching.
- Post it as a dance-class style clip with the routine name in the caption.
